MAJURO – The Division of Immigration issues a stern reminder to all private sector employers and government agencies sponsoring foreign national workers:
Renewal applications for Non-Resident Worker Visas must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the expiration date stamped in the passport.
We are observing a high volume of “last-minute” submissions. Effective February 1, 2026, the Division will strictly enforce late filing penalties.
- Late Fee: Applications submitted less than 30 days before expiry will incur a $100 Late Filing Penalty.
- Overstay: Workers who allow their permits to expire without a pending renewal application on file are subject to immediate fines and potential deportation proceedings.
Employers are responsible for tracking the visa status of their employees.
